Analyzing the results of the studies of HEETS YELLOW, we can assume the following:
- in order to form a similar flavor profile of the cigarette smoke and aerosol sticks of Parliament in the manufacture of HEETS YELLOW cigarettes, which is the main structural element for forming the flavor profile of the aerosol, an ideal tobacco blend consisting of raw materials of Virginia and Burley varieties is probably used.
This fact is indicated by very close values in the content of nicotine, carbohydrates and the hydrogen index of smoke in the HEETS YELLOW cigarettes;
- the pyrolysate values differing by almost 2 times, as well as a significant difference in the values for the content of sugars and proteins, respectively, for HEETS YELLOW cigarettes are most likely due to technological additives of cellulose, triacetin, glycerin and other additives used in the manufacture of homogenized tobacco sticks.
To test the hypothesis about using homogenized (reconstituted) tobacco raw materials manufactured by injection technology in sticks, tobacco components from sticks and cigarettes were placed in a beaker with a solution of distilled water and then stirred for 1 min on a magnetic stirrer. As a result of exposure to water and stirring (see Fig. 2 – A) – the tobacco part of the sticks, in contrast to the tobacco raw materials of cigarettes (see Fig. 2 – B), has lost its original form of a rolled ribbon-like web (as shown in Fig. 1 – 1) and formed in the form of a finely dispersed sediment at the bottom of the glass, as well as an opaque suspension of the solution.
Visually, the size of the filtered precipitated particles is less than the minimum diameter of the sieve mesh to separate the tobacco dust fraction, i.e., less than 0.315 mm. This fact indicates that the tobacco part of HEETS YELLOW stick is made from reconstituted tobacco, using, within the framework of an appropriate technology, additives of long-fiber cellulose and plasticizers in order to form a tobacco web.
